Common Questions About VA Benefits

What is a VA disability rating?

A VA disability rating is a percentage (0% to 100%) that reflects how severe your service-connected condition is and how much it affects your ability to work. Higher ratings mean higher monthly compensation.

How long does the VA claims process take?

The VA aims to process claims within 125 days, but it can take longer depending on the complexity of your case and whether additional evidence is needed. We help speed up the process by submitting complete, well-documented claims from the start.

What does "service-connected" mean?

A condition is service-connected if it was caused by or worsened during your military service. This includes physical injuries, illnesses, and mental health conditions.

Can I file a claim for multiple conditions at once?

Yes! You can file for as many service-connected conditions as apply to you. We actually recommend filing for all your conditions at once rather than filing multiple separate claims over time.

What happens if my claim is denied?

You have the right to appeal a denied claim. We can help you understand why it was denied and guide you through the appeals process to get the rating you deserve.

Do I need a doctor's diagnosis to file a claim?

Not necessarily. The VA will schedule you for a Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam as part of the claims process. However, having medical records and a diagnosis from your own doctor can strengthen your claim.

How much will I receive in disability compensation?

Compensation amounts are set by the VA and depend on your disability rating and whether you have dependents. You can view the current compensation rates on the VA's website.

Can I work and still receive VA disability compensation?

Yes! VA disability compensation is not based on your employment status. You can work full-time and still receive your monthly compensation.

What if my condition gets worse over time?

You can file for an increase in your rating if your service-connected condition worsens. This is called a claim for increase, and we can help you with that process.

Is there a deadline to file a VA claim?

There's no deadline—you can file a claim at any time after separation from service. However, filing sooner rather than later means you start receiving benefits sooner.

I called Margarita approaching retirement of my 35 year career. Honestly I was pretty clueless on this process. She was heaven sent walking me through the entire VA process. Her expertise, knowledge and timeliness got me through this VA maze with amazing insight and ending with a great rating. Highest recommendation. Look no further.

Mr H

Margarita was simply amazing. She took the time to listen to me and was expeditious in filling out the paperwork with the VA. She knows how to work with pilots and their specific circumstances. She was always available via phone or text with any question or concern I had. She always advocated for me and my family. I highly recommended their services with anything VA related.

Margarita and her team do an outstanding job helping Veterans. I will recommend them to every Veteran I can. They are excellent at communication throughout the entire process. I will be forever grateful for their guidance and support.
